The Gamut CD-1 is based on a Crystal CS 4390 DA converter IC with reduced jitter sensitivity. This IC delivers a wonderfully fluid and non mechanical sounding midrange as well as treble with an exceptionally smooth and highly resolved detail. The Crystal CS 4390 does oversampling at 128 times 44,100 Hz. That is 5,644,800 Hz!! This is twice the speed of DSD/SACD. Most upsampling only goes to 192,000 Hz.
All circuit boards and the CD drive are mounted on rubber insulation, so that all airborne and mechanical vibration is reduced.
The Drive control board contains a number of trim potentiometers, which allows the individual adjustment of the performance during final testing.
The physical design matches our Gamut D 200 and C 2, with an engraved text panel in polished brass, and a 10 mm thick Aluminum front panel.

The Gamut D200 Amplifier.

This extraordinary amplifier uses only 1 pair of very large MOSFETS per channel, thereby eliminating most of the unnatural electronic sounding artifacts caused by a massive amount of redundant electronics used by most other amplifier manufacturers. These artifacts are responsible for grain, glare and a general unease in the listening experience.
Inputs are both single ended RCAs and balanced.
Outputs: Two different output terminals to your speakers. You can use either the capacitor coupled or direct outputs.

THD is below 0.05%. Distortion is mainly 2nd harmonic, and it decreases with level.

To ensure best audio performance, the recording output has a buffer opamp, so that loading from the recording machine do not affect the main signal path.
The RCA unbalanced out has also a buffer amplifier, keeping it independent of the balanced XLR out put. So the loading of the RCA output does not reduce the Common mode rejection ratio (CMRR) of the balanced output.
Bypass function means that a XLR input is sent directly to XLR output, and all other parts are bypassed. This allows a CD player or DAC with level control to drive the power amplifiers directly, without moving cables.
